Invomed is a woman-owned, disabled-owned medical device company in Vancouver, Washington, improving life for people who rely on medical devices. Built on understanding challenges catheter users face, we develop solutions to enhance comfort, safety, and mobility — combining patient insight with thoughtful design to address the needs of patients and caregivers.
Invomed’s mission is to improve quality of life for individuals living with long-term medical devices. Every innovation is guided by the belief that patients deserve comfort, independence, and confidence in their daily lives. Through patient-centered design and continuous innovation, Invomed develops solutions that support mobility, reduce complications, and improve everyday catheter care.
What makes Invomed different is its commitment to designing solutions from the patient’s perspective. As a disabled-owned company, the team understands the everyday challenges of living with medical devices. This insight drives the development of products that improve comfort, reduce irritation, support natural movement, and make catheter care easier for both patients and caregivers.
Founder/Inventor/CEO
In 2017, Michelle Drake’s life took a turn when she began using an indwelling catheter after a medical procedure. Like many patients, she quickly realized the limitations of traditional catheter stabilization devices.
Adhesive-based solutions caused painful skin irritation and abrasions, while non-adhesive straps lacked the security and flexibility needed for active lifestyles. Frustrated by these shortcomings, Michelle did what any determined problem-solver would do—she created her own solution.
Drawing on her personal experience and her drive to improve the lives of others, Michelle developed the Drake Lock & Swivel. This adhesive-free stabilization device features a swiveling retainer that allows for greater mobility, comfort, and security. With its patented design, it combines the best features of existing products while addressing their most significant pain points.
But innovation wasn’t Michelle’s only motivation. As part of the disabled community, she understands the importance of sharing solutions that genuinely improve quality of life. Her goal has always been bigger than one product—it’s about empowering patients to live with dignity and confidence.
Today, Michelle’s invention is transforming catheter care for patients and caregivers alike, proving that empathy and innovation can change lives.
